Fundraising
How do I fundraise?
When you register, you will be invited to set up your own fundraising page with a link and message to send to your friends, family and colleagues. They can sponsor you securely through your fundraising page.
We will send you some suggestions for other great ways to fundraise, and remember, donations to your fundraising are tax-deductible.
How do I ask people to support me?
Start by sharing your personal reason for riding on your fundraising page. Then use our email and social templates to ask friends, family and colleagues to donate or join your ride. You can also print and display some posters around your workplace. Remember, people are more likely to give when they know your “why.”
Are the donations I receive tax deductible?
Yes, for donations made in Australia and over $2. All donors that have made donations will receive a tax deductible receipt by email after they donate – it’s a great idea to also send them a personal thank you for donating.
Is there a minimum fundraising amount?
There’s no minimum, and every dollar makes a difference. But we’ve set some fun fundraising milestones with rewards along the way to keep you motivated!
What happens if I hit a fundraising milestone?
Each time you hit a fundraising milestone, you’ll unlock an exclusive reward - like a water bottle, a musette, or even premium Pedla gear designed just for this event. Raise $1,000 and you’ll become a Ride for the Kids Champion, complete with you very own cowbell to ring loud and proud! Along with your physical rewards, you'll also receive digital badges and a big cheer from the Brainwave community!
We’ll be sending your rewards via Australia Post to the address you listed when you signed up. If you need to make any changes to your registered address, please send us an email events@brainwave.org.au
Can donations be matched by my employer?
Yes! Many workplaces offer matched giving programs. Ask your HR team if your donation can be doubled — and if they need more info, we’re here to help.
Teams and Groups
How do I start a team?
You can create a team during registration or from your dashboard anytime. Just give it a name, invite your friends or colleagues, and start riding toward your shared goal! Life is always more fun when it’s shared 😊
Can I be in more than one team?
You can only join one team at a time. But you can ride as part of your workplace, school or club — and still support other friends by donating or cheering them on.
What are team rewards or goals?
Some team-based rewards are available — like caps for recruiting 5 riders into your team (up to 10 caps per team) and when you invite people to join your team from your page, you’ll go into the draw to win an intrepid holiday. In team, you can also unlock exclusive ‘team only’ badges on your team profile page.
But, the biggest reward is riding together toward a shared goal and seeing your collective impact grow.
How do I get my organisation involved?
There are many ways you can get your organisation involved and we'd love to help.
- When you register, you will get access to a bank of event materials, including posters to print and put up in your work place.
- You can enquire whether your organisation would do Matched Giving, where they match every dollar which is donated.
- You could start a team, or teams, within your organisation to expand your fundraising reach and create some healthy competition between other offices or departments in your organisation.
If you'd like more assistance activating your organisation/business, please reach out to us at events@brainwave.org.au
